Assembly Guidance

Projector Vision

Assembly Guidance ProjectorVision is now used in production. ProjectorVision supports Automatic FOD Prevention, Fiber Orientation Measurement, and other time saving and quality control functions. With the ProjectorVision option, LASERGUIDE and KitGuide systems automatically capture and analyze images to control manufacturing processes.

In KitGuide applications, ProjectorVision recognizes that the correct ply has been picked up from the cutter bed, in the correct order, leaving the cutter operator's hands continuously free to move plies. ProjectorVision enables kits to be completed faster, with better accuracy and lower cost.

In LASERGUIDE applications, AutoFOD and AutoFiber allow images of layup surfaces to be scanned and analyzed to ensure that the surface is free of FOD and is comprised of the correct material, with accurate fiber orientations.

The images shown here were automatically captured with LASERGUIDE ProjectorVision. The detection of FOD (poly) is indicated by the blue region and the process is automatically stopped. Acceptable and unacceptable fiber orientations are also documented. The system differentiates material types and has determined that the two different types of woven material in the part are in the correct sequence in the laminate.

Elimination of the potential for part failure and scrap are critical goals in all areas of composites manufacturing. ProjectorVision achieves these goals through early detection while reducing process costs.
