| Make It Fit
Variations between design models and as-built products often require complex and time consuming, manual adjustments. Shape capture systems, such as surface scanners, trackers and CMMs support analysis of as-built surfaces so as to anticipate areas that will be problematic when the product is assembled or used.
LASERGUIDE projects the results of as-built disparity analysis for the purpose of supporting rapid rework. Starting with NASA in 1998, LASERGUIDE patterns have been used to modify tool surfaces to compensate for springback.
The pictures to the left show an AutoFocus, AutoAim MicroLASERGUIDE being used to display where brackets that support business jet interiors should be mounted to be in a tightly toleranced straight line.
The pictures to the right show a “selective sanding” application where the fillet radii were automatically analyzed and displayed with an integrated PolyWorks/LASERGUIDE solution.
Using LASERGUIDE to display touchup areas enables the fastest, most accurate rework, enabling the tightest tolerances in the shortest time.
LASERGUIDE Make It Fit applications have been run with partner hardware and software from 3D Scan It, ADM Works, East Coast Metrology, Hexagon, InnovMETRIC (fully automated with PolyWorks), Metris, New River Kinematics, Steinbichler and Verisurf. |
