ProjectorVision
In 1995, working with the AFRL (US Air Force Research Laboratory), Assembly Guidance integrated a projection system with a vision system. Using the mirrors of the projector to aim the field of a digital camera, calibrated images could be captures under data control. This system is the basis for US Patent #6304680: High Resolution, High Accuracy Process Monitoring System.
The Next Generation LASERGUIDE supports ProjectorVision, with an optional camera and computer embedded in the projector.
Applications for the ProjectorVision include: KitGuide: automatically pointing at the next ply to be picked-up in logical order when Projector Vision determines that a correct ply has been unloaded. FOD prevention: scanning and running an image analysis of the layup surface before a new ply is laid down. Barcode capture: Capturing barcodes in known locations enables process control by not allowing the operator to proceed unless the correct barcode is found in the correct place.
These images are captured using ProjectorVision, from 20' away.
